Khalid Mohtaseb’s video was part of a blog post by Adam Westbrook titled “How to achieve the new look in Video Journalism.” In the post, Westbrook notes that some have debated whether or not the video should be considered journalism at all. The music in particular seems designed more to tug at the viewer’s heart than to tell an impartial story.

Luke Harris put a lot of work into this ad for a dance party. And that’s what makes it so very cool. I’m thinking the lights were created with Flash or Processing, then projected on the kitchen.

I’ve been having a run of bad luck with video lately. Rather, I’ve been screwing up, and I’m not happy about it. Of the last five videos I shot for Recordnet.com, three have had technical issues which I should have foreseen. A fourth was shot on my Flip cam. The fifth was OK, as it should’ve been; it was just a long interview with a subject sitting in a chair.
It’s at times like these (which have been few, thankfully,) that I’ve been turning to Vimeo.com for inspiration. The high-quality Youtube alternative features some inspiring artistic work.
Social media can get pretty complicated. I have a relatively small social media presence – the links/icons in the sidebar at left, plus Flickr – but at times I’ve forgotten how each of my pages or sites are connected.
Take, for example, the video blog below, which I uploaded to Youtube yesterday and intended to post here today. A few hours after the video was on Youtube I received a message from my sister on Facebook saying she had watched it. I had forgotten that I had a feed from Youtube to Facebook, and it probably cost ianhillmedia.com a few pageviews.
It’s something I’ll keep in mind in the future. Perhaps I need to create a flowchart mapping out the connections between my social media pages.
