If my redesign looked something like this…
…I’d be happy.
Drove to Visalia, received a contributor credit in the Wall Street Journal.
Moderated a live chat, shot photos and (lousy) video at the Stockton State of the City speech.
Went to the release party for “Portraits: 32 Singers, 32 Songs,” shot photos, video and wrote a blog post.
Saw Prieta perform at the Plea for Peace Center in Stockton, shot photos and video for a blog post (hopefully) this week.
This morning I’m finally starting a long-intended redesign of ianhillmedia.com that will involve building a custom WordPress theme. It actually will be the second custom theme I’ve built; the first was for a proposed project that never came to pass.
My goal is to create a site that best reflects me as a Web content producer, an aspiring developer and designer and an amateur photographer. Consider it a site for the modern journalist.
It’s just a little past the peak wildflower season here in north-central California, and there are plenty of bright, colorful flowers on which I can test my photography skills. Yesterday I shot several flowers along the road to Fresh Edibles farm in French Camp, California, above, where I was picking up vegetables. I took more than 400 shots; what I believe to be the best 20 or so are in the slideshow below.
The experience provided a great opportunity to practice working with my camera in different lighting situations. Unlike musicians, whom I typically photograph, flowers obviously don’t move around that much, making it easier to take several different shots of the same subject with different settings on my camera.
